Welcome, Baby A.

On Baby A's birthday, the c-section surgery went as planned. I walked into the OR around 9:30am and was pushed out around 2 hours later. W was instructed to wait outside while the team was getting me prepared for anesthesia. He then got invited to come in and sat next to me while the team worked on getting Baby A out of me 😂. W was a good DJ and Baby A was born while Taylor Swift's Shake It Off was being played. So...did I feel any pain during this life-changing surgery? No, I didn't. I had a spinal block. I never felt any type of pain during the surgery. Getting the anesthesia injected - however - was the most uncomfortable part of the surgery. There was a lot of pressure. I felt my back being pulled or pushed, or something. It just felt very uncomfortable, not painful, but very uncomfortable. It was also hard to try leaning toward the source of that uncomfortableness. Learning to relax while being uncomfortable was a very hard thing to do. But it was necessary. Once it...

[Korea 2018] First time in Korea!

We flew to Seoul with Air Canada for our trip to Korea in 2018.✈ ✈ ✈
W was very hesitant on booking with this airline because of his previous experience with the airline that happened a year before the trip to Korea, which involved multiple delays not because of weather and led to missing the subsequent flight and had to sleep in Narita Airport in Japan (in that incident, W ended up having to purchase a last minute standby ticket for another flight with another airline in Narita in order to meet up with me in Hokkaido the next morning, Air Canada did nothing to help). This incident happened in 2017, though even up until now, we sometimes still joke about that experience and say "at least it was Narita" since we both like Narita Airport. Nonetheless, we still ended up booking with Air Canada on its' website for our trip to Korea. This particular experience was alright.

The flight from Denver to Vancouver was very early - 6:30am. At the time we also lived about 1.5 hours of drive away from the airport. We actually stayed up the night before the flight and left home at...4am. We used Green Ride (shared-ride for pick up/drop off) to avoid 2 weeks of parking fees at the airport. Green Ride driver called us just a few minutes before our scheduled pick-up time to let us know he's just a few minutes away. The driver picked us up from our doorstep and dropped us off at the terminal for our flight (switched to another minivan once). We've used Green Ride several times during our time in Colorado and would recommend for convenience (especially for people who don't live so close to the airport, or not want to drive early in the morning or late at night in unpredictable weather, or knew they'd be exhausted after a long flight and would prefer someone else to do the drive).

I tried to finish check-in online the night before the flight but the airline website said I had to do it in-person at a counter, which I thought "alright, maybe it's because the final destination is outside of US so they wanted to check something in person." Upon check-in at Denver Airport, I was informed by the airline's representative that I needed to apply for eTA for passing through Canada. I didn't know about this and had no idea what eTA even means, and would've done it at home had I known it sooner. I ended up applying for it on my phone just right in front of the airline counter, paid the fees over the phone, and showed confirmation of eTA to the airline representative right afterwards and finished check-in thereafter.

It was my fault for not checking the Canadian customs website for information about passing through Canada, though I honestly didn't expect to encounter anything like this because my prior visits to Canada only involved showing proof of resident status in the US without any need to apply for anything, let alone this was just for a 55 minutes of layover. Anyway, the online application process was fairly straightforward and it took just a few minutes from start to finish to finish check-in.
Not sure if the overhead for the plane we were on was just lower than usual or not...but I hit it several times to the point I decided to take a picture of it with my hand to show how low it seemed.

This was taken in Vancouver Airport ☂. I remember it was kinda unusual for us to see a "cloudy rainy day" because we were so used to seeing blizzard snowy days instead.

I had to take a picture of the chess set when I saw it at Vancouver Airport.😊

The flight from Vancouver to Incheon was over 11 hours long and we had the "middle seats" (seats in the middle aisle).

These were the movies I "planned" to watch during the flight 😂

I ended up watching everything on the list in the previous picture except "Meow" because I fell asleep. The title and the description seemed entertaining so I took a picture of it so I would remember the title and maybe...would look for it to watch later, but even today I still haven't seen it 😅

I don't remember what the food was called...
and don't remember anything special about it...

Jajangmyeon - noodle dish with thick savory black gravy.
There was a bit of green peas in the sauce.

This was our breakfast on the plane. Egg salad sandwich with biscuits. The sandwich was pretty good, I remember I liked it.

The original plan was to buy T-Money cards (one for each of us) before leaving the airport. However, there was a long line for just 2 machines that sold it (and we wanted LINE-edition cards which was sold by just 1 of the 2 machines), and the machine that sold the LINE-edition cards magically broke about half an hour into waiting in line. So, we moved on without the cards. There's plenty opportunity to buy T-Money cards in the city. No biggie!

So, the first thing we did after landing in Incheon ended up just be buying tickets for the express train  to take us to Seoul (we used A'rex). Incheon Airport is located roughly an hour of train ride away from Seoul. 🚄 After we got to Seoul, we took the subway to get to Myeongdong, where our hotel was located.

After coming out from the subway, this was our first view of Seoul!
