Welcome, Baby A.

On Baby A's birthday, the c-section surgery went as planned. I walked into the OR around 9:30am and was pushed out around 2 hours later. W was instructed to wait outside while the team was getting me prepared for anesthesia. He then got invited to come in and sat next to me while the team worked on getting Baby A out of me 😂. W was a good DJ and Baby A was born while Taylor Swift's Shake It Off was being played. So...did I feel any pain during this life-changing surgery? No, I didn't. I had a spinal block. I never felt any type of pain during the surgery. Getting the anesthesia injected - however - was the most uncomfortable part of the surgery. There was a lot of pressure. I felt my back being pulled or pushed, or something. It just felt very uncomfortable, not painful, but very uncomfortable. It was also hard to try leaning toward the source of that uncomfortableness. Learning to relax while being uncomfortable was a very hard thing to do. But it was necessary. Once it...

I'm back! New home, new life!

Like the title suggests - I'm back 😀
Also, quite the opposite from the last post, we moved again...and again and again individually. And now, we're in our new nest - in Windsor, Colorado.

Instead of blogging our life out in details, I'll just use some bullet points to give a quick recap of things that happened between the last post and today and I'll try to keep things in a chronological order:

  • We did redo our cute little townhome in Salt Lake City, UT in 2014
  • Several first time D.I.Y projects: painted our kitchen walls, made a raised garden bed, and lots of IKEA furniture-assembly activities in summer, 2014
  • Had a friend live with us as a roommate from summer 2014 to spring 2015
  • 4-Days cruise (our first time on a cruise) to Mexico in Fall, 2014
  • We both graduated from UofU in May, 2015
  • Our little wedding celebration in May, 2015
  • Duke (mini-Australian shepherd mix) joined us in July, 2015
  • I started my PhD at UofU in August, 2015
  • Bought a brand new car (with only 4 miles on its' life when I drove it home!) in April, 2016 b/c hubby accepted an outer state position
  • Hubby moved to Loveland, CO in April 2016 for work in Fort Collins, this marked the beginning of our 16 months long-distance journey
  • Between May, 2016 - August 2017, I made numerous trips between UT and CO (either by plane or by car) to see hubby and our cats and puppy (they also moved to CO)
  • 10-Days Alaska cruise in June, 2016
  • Had a tenant live with me in our townhome in UT from August 2016 - February 2017, this helped with mortgage on top of double living expenses we had at the time (me living in UT + hubby living in CO).
  • I began a very cool internship in March, 2017
  • I had a small surgery, recovered quickly in April, 2017
  • Sold our UT townhome in May, 2017 (happened so fast!)
  • I moved to a temproary summer sublet and began my last summer semester in May, 2017
  • Left my research-job after 4 years of hard work and tears in May, 2017
  • Bought & closed our CO home in June, 2017 (the picture here was taken on the day we became undercontract with the previous owners)
  • Hubby moved from Loveland to our new home in Windsor
  • Finished my last summer semester (the last semester with actual classes, even tho they were online) and completed the cool internship in August, 2017
  • I moved to CO to finally reunite with hubby, kitties, and doggy in September, 2017
  • Finished writing the 5-chapters dissertation in November, 2017
  • Had a 24 days trip in Japan (arrived Japan on my 31st b-day, and solo traveled until the last week when hubby and inlaws joined) in December, 2017
  • Passed PhD dissertation defense in January, 2018
  • Hubby's business trip turned into our anniversary trip in San Francisco in February, 2018
  • and now......just working on getting format approval for the dissertation

Like I mentioned earlier, our "Na" househeld included an addition in August 2015. Then nearly 9-weeks old Duke used to look like this (taken on the first day we brought him home).

Duke quickly became as dorky, goofy, funny, and sometimes charming like this

Today, I thought to take a picture of all three of the furry ones in honor of getting back to blogging again. All three furry butts were adopted in Utah, at different times and from different settings.

So here's Duke 🐕, he is a mini-Australian shepherd mix with a bloodline of cockapoo (cocker spaniel and mini poodle mix). We didn't know this at first, but later found out Duke was actually born on the day of our "wedding celebration anniversy." <-- I know this may seem confusing. We celebrate two special anniversary dates: Feb 14 and May 24. Feb 14 is our actual sign-the-deed anniversary (oh yeah, we eloped to Vegas back in the day) and May 24 is our wedding celebration anniversary. Duke likes to play with cats/dogs/humans, enjoys walks (tho he thinks he's the pack leader during walks), knows some tricks, and loves to nap next to humans. Duke was actually wagging his hairy tail when I took this picture, but his facial expression seems to show he wasn't sure what I was doing with a white rectangle thing in front of his face (my iPhone).

And here's Beibei 😺. As usual, Beibei doesn't like to pose for pictures but she is still the queen of our household. She is claiming my lap as her bed at this very moment as I'm typing this. Beibei is turning 13 at the end of this July. She loves all blankets (must sit on every new blanket first) and enjoys sunbathing in the catio we built. Sometimes I have to forcibly escort her back into the house even under 50mph wind gust (yes, it can get sunny yet super windy in Colorado), like today. She also loves canned food tho we try to give her and Lulu only once a week as supplement/treat.

Lulu 😼, our 22-toes tabby, forever-servant and one day the succession of her majesty Beibei. Lulu is as curious as she always has been. Lulu turns 6 this coming May. She also loves sun-bathing, loves to sneak in and out of places where she shouldn't go (aka the closets), she's a jumper, and is always on time to wake us up at 6am to feed her and her majesty Beibei. Lulu also likes to steal food (protein and starches only) from humans when no one is watching so we always try to be extra careful with food at home, especially during the weekdays when I'm getting dinner ready before hubby gets home. I put covers on food or just put things in the microwave or oven if they're not being used. If the oven/microwave are being used and some food are ready (and happen to be candidates for Lulu's palate), then I just have to watch her like a hawk 👀.

Tomorrow I'll start documenting my ambitious gardening journey for this year 🍀.
