Welcome, Baby A.

On Baby A's birthday, the c-section surgery went as planned. I walked into the OR around 9:30am and was pushed out around 2 hours later. W was instructed to wait outside while the team was getting me prepared for anesthesia. He then got invited to come in and sat next to me while the team worked on getting Baby A out of me 😂. W was a good DJ and Baby A was born while Taylor Swift's Shake It Off was being played. So...did I feel any pain during this life-changing surgery? No, I didn't. I had a spinal block. I never felt any type of pain during the surgery. Getting the anesthesia injected - however - was the most uncomfortable part of the surgery. There was a lot of pressure. I felt my back being pulled or pushed, or something. It just felt very uncomfortable, not painful, but very uncomfortable. It was also hard to try leaning toward the source of that uncomfortableness. Learning to relax while being uncomfortable was a very hard thing to do. But it was necessary. Once it...

Pecan Pie Without Corn Syrup

I wanted to bake a pie for this year's Thanksgiving. I love Pecan Pie so it wasn't long before I decided to try make one. Upon Googling the recipe, I saw many recipes and I was shocked to see the amount of corn syrup normally used. I knew this is a sweet pie, but I didn't know that much sugar had to be added! Then, I came across a pecan pie recipe WITHOUT corn syrup from Spend With Pennies and immediately decided that was it! It's super easy and the ingredients are easy to find (most people probably already have most in their home). I only had to get brown sugar and pecans. Here's a link to the original recipe (原食譜連結): https://www.spendwithpennies.com/easy-pecan-pie/  I followed the majority of the instructions on Spend With Pennies so I won't list out the...

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving! Wow, it's already this time of the year! 2020 has brought ups and downs for us, but overall it's a good year for us. We're grateful for being healthy and no job loss despite the pandemic much of this country (and many other parts of the world) is experiencing. With the US being the #1 country in reported cases and deaths, it's almost always saddening to check the news because everyday we see and hear more about stories surrounding COVID-19. Over the years, we haven't had Thanksgiving dinner on actual Thanksgiving Day because Black Friday shopping usually began around dinner time on Thanksgiving Day so we had "Thanksgiving lunch" or "Thanksgiving Eve's dinner" instead. I think the last time we had our Thanksgiving dinner on Thanksgiving Day was in 2009...? (if my memory is correct then oh man that's been way more than a decade! Back then our Black Friday shopping began around midnight on Thanksgiving Day and lasted th...

[Korea 2018] Spicy Chicken & Seafood @ Yoogane Myeongdong

For our very first dinner in Korea, we went to a table-grill restaurant "Yoogane" in Myeongdong. We actually walked past it a few times while still looking around for different options, then we picked this restaurant. I remember while looking at their menu just outside of the restaurant, we saw many people speaking in Korean heading in and out of the restaurant which led us thinking "oh maybe it's a place enjoyed by locals! Let's give it a shot!" Their menu was multi-lingual, which was convenient for non-Korean speakers! It's got Korean, English, Japanese, and Chinese plus pictures for most items. There was also this "side dishes bar" and a "fruit bar" for customers to help themselves.

[Korea 2018] Street food in Myeongdong

One of the things we looked forward to, even before buying the plane tickets, was to try street food in Korea! During this trip, we tried several popular street food and Korean snacks in markets, food courts, and pop-ups on the side of the streets in Seoul and Busan. My personal favorite place to "hunt" and enjoy these, no doubt, was the street in front of our hotel in Myeong-dong ! That street was filled with food stalls and carts! It reminded me so much of the scenes and vibes of night markets that I enjoyed so very much growing up in Taiwan. And and and, so so so many delicious-smelling-looking things to try! Things I couldn't even pronounce but got so pulled into LOL! Getting swamped by food stalls, and immerse ourselves in the local culture and flavors of local eat...

Blue Thai Milk Tea (藍色泰式奶茶)

Those that are close to me would know I like Thai Milk Tea! It's one of my favorite drinks to order at restaurants and bubble tea places 🍵 Recently I ordered a bag of Thai tea from Raming on Amazon. I chose this particular brand because it claims to use organic tea leaves, no food coloring (so no artificial bright orange color), and blends with organic butterfly pea flowers that creates naturally-blue Thai tea. I've made a few batches of Thai milk tea using this bag. I am a bit disappointed with the brand (explained below), but I still make this tea at home. Also, every time I open the tea bag, it just smells so good! To be honest...I think it smells better than its' taste... I use this Hario dripper to make it. It's small and each pour yields...
