On Baby A's birthday, the c-section surgery went as planned. I walked into the OR around 9:30am and was pushed out around 2 hours later. W was instructed to wait outside while the team was getting me prepared for anesthesia. He then got invited to come in and sat next to me while the team worked on getting Baby A out of me 😂. W was a good DJ and Baby A was born while Taylor Swift's Shake It Off was being played. So...did I feel any pain during this life-changing surgery? No, I didn't. I had a spinal block. I never felt any type of pain during the surgery. Getting the anesthesia injected - however - was the most uncomfortable part of the surgery. There was a lot of pressure. I felt my back being pulled or pushed, or something. It just felt very uncomfortable, not painful, but very uncomfortable. It was also hard to try leaning toward the source of that uncomfortableness. Learning to relax while being uncomfortable was a very hard thing to do. But it was necessary. Once it...

Summer's here! Week 36 is here! We officially have just 2 weeks left! We had our 9th prenatal appointment right before the NST the Friday of Week 36.
My ob was on leave (which we knew months ahead of time) so I was seen by a midwife for the Week 36 checkup. The midwife was very bubbly. She offered to do a cervical check, though I declined because we already knew we were getting a planned c-section so there's really no point to having a cervical check. The midwife also agreed it wasn't going to be any more or less beneficial to have a cervical check at that point. She did ask for permission to do a GBS swab test on me, and I said yes. The midwife explained the prevalence of someone having it is around 30%. She also said that the main reason of doing a Group B strep test is to know if someone has it ahead of delivery so the hospital could prepare for prevention/treatment as the baby can catch it when passing through the birth canal. Because we're expecting to have the baby via cesarean, she said it's unlikely for me to pass it to the baby even if I were to test positive. However, it was still recommended to have the test done just so the hospital could have it on record in case the baby does turn to a head-down position before the surgery - which would prompt us to switch back to the plan of a vaginal delivery! Anyway, I was a little nervous for the GBS test, but it went by super fast! I swear it was less than 2 seconds! It was done before I knew it!
The NST was very uneventful, which meant it went well and nothing unexpected happened. Baby was still breech (duh) and the amniotic fluid looked good.

This week, we also installed the infant car seat. The day it got installed felt like a milestone achieved!

I also started to allow myself to have some of my fav foods from pre-pregnancy. Of course, I still watch out my diet for gestational diabetes. What I mean is just that I allow myself to take a bite of the things I've missed here and there during my meal times. I still count my carbs, W also counts my carbs.

Some of the things that have started to "bother" me this week include...nausea and queasiness. I actually threw up one morning while brushing my teeth. It came out from my mouth and my nose. It was not pretty 😂. This last happened during the first trimester (and lasted through week 17ish). I can't believe my morning sickness really has returned. It's mostly in the evening, just like how it was during the first trimester. I also noticed more stretch marks and saw a more rapid weight gain. I've gained 14lbs since last November and about 4lbs of those happened during the last 2 weeks. It's also becoming more difficult for me to walk Duke in our neighborhood. The heat is one reason, but the main thing is my calves are so prone to cramps these days! Also, baby sometimes moves while I'm walking and it honestly feels so uncomfortable whenever that happens - probably because she's in that breech position so when she stretches or rolls, I feel breathless (because her head pushes against my rib cage/lungs). Also, when she kicks, those kicks land right on my bladder and sometimes her kicks send this "crazy" rectum pressure as well. I also get lightning crotch a lot while standing or walking. To say I'm uncomfortable most times is an understatement. I'm in pain whenever I'm up and moving 😓
Luckily, I see light at the end of the tunnel! Week 38 is my light hahaha! Now that we're in the final weeks, time really does seem to fly by fast!
