Welcome, Baby A.

On Baby A's birthday, the c-section surgery went as planned. I walked into the OR around 9:30am and was pushed out around 2 hours later. W was instructed to wait outside while the team was getting me prepared for anesthesia. He then got invited to come in and sat next to me while the team worked on getting Baby A out of me 😂. W was a good DJ and Baby A was born while Taylor Swift's Shake It Off was being played. So...did I feel any pain during this life-changing surgery? No, I didn't. I had a spinal block. I never felt any type of pain during the surgery. Getting the anesthesia injected - however - was the most uncomfortable part of the surgery. There was a lot of pressure. I felt my back being pulled or pushed, or something. It just felt very uncomfortable, not painful, but very uncomfortable. It was also hard to try leaning toward the source of that uncomfortableness. Learning to relax while being uncomfortable was a very hard thing to do. But it was necessary. Once it...

An afternoon in Forest Grove

A couple of weeks ago, hubby's coworkers invited us to join him for sake tasting. I politely declined the invite but insisted on being hubby's designated driver. So on that Sunday, I drove hubby to the venue and had an afternoon by myself in an unfamiliar quaint town - Forest Grove.
The last time I went to Forest Grove was early February. It was for finishing paperwork for work. I shared a post about it a while ago. Only 6 months had passed, the college town still had the same charm. I parked on the side of a street and began wandering on foot.
I've always enjoyed looking at buildings when walking down the street. So I did what I enjoyed and observed the architectural surroundings as I roamed in Forest Grove. Most buildings there are two stories high, with some being three stories. Space on the first floor is generally reserved for shops and offices while the upper floors are living spaces.
On my way over to a coffee shop, I saw the above poster several times (it was on several street lights). At first, I didn't read it, I just noticed the picture of the fruit on it and then noticed it again and again. Eventually, I looked up to read it and it made me want to visit their farmers market someday.
Around 3pm, I went into a coffeeshop, got a Thai tea and a toast for snack. The shop has outdoor seating with umbrellas which was perfect for the hot day. I sat outside, doodled while sipping the creamy tea for a little more than 2 hours. It was great.
It was a good afternoon. I hadn't doodled in a while and it felt good to draw again.
Also, my acne had been getting better (it broke out again a few days after that Sunday, though, probably because of my period). Around 5:30pm, I went back to the venue to pick up hubby. He bought a bottle of plum sake. He said he thought I'd like it. We opened it that night and I found it good on the first sip but soon it became too sweet 🍶.
