Last week while playing a computer game with friends, one of the friends mentioned she had just gotten a massage after returning from a trip and it somehow made me want my long-awaited massage realllly bad. It had been more than 3 years since the last time I had one! So this week, I looked up places on Yelp and picked one that's closest to home with good reviews (my definition of good review = 4 stars+). I called the place at noon and initially was going to ask about the availability for that weekend. The woman who picked up the phone asked if I wanted to go in that day and I thought "sure, why not" so I booked a same-day appointment for 1 hour massage.
My appointment was at 4:30pm. At the same time, hubby had a dental appointment just next door. It was perfect. I showed up nearly 30 minutes early because we carpooled. I said I just wanted to check-in and then wait in the lobby. The lady said she's free and took me in immediately.
I think her name's Qili (?) She asked me to use the bathroom before leading me to the room. My experience here was similar to my previous experiences back in Utah. She left me alone in the room for a few minutes so I could undress. Before she left the room to give me privacy, she asked me to take off all clothes and get under the sheet, face down. She came back a little too quickly. I was still adjusting myself on the massage bed. She walked over and held the sheet while I moved to find a comfortable spot to lie on my stomach.

The 1-hour massage felt very, very, very good. It was wonderful. There was pain but it was the good kind of pain. I could feel the "knots" being popped when she worked on the back of my neck and shoulders. It was probably the best massage I've had. This was probably my 4th or 5th massage. It's also my 1st massage experience outside of Utah, outside of a massage school. All of the previous massages I booked with were with a massage therapy school in Utah. I've booked with students and LMT (they were instructors) at the school and each experience was great. This massage, though, was beyond and above my previous experiences. My goodness. I didn't know I needed it that bad!

My therapist used all kinds of techniques that I knew and didn't know within that 1 hour. To be honest, at first during check-in, I was a bit concerned that I couldn't "pick a type of massage" like say I'm here for a Swedish, hot stone, or deep tissue massage. That concern was invalid. She used them all! The hot stones were amazing. I had a hot stone massage once before this session and it didn't involve using the stones on all of my body. Back then, it was just used to press down my spine. This time, the stones touched all parts on the back side of my body - neck, shoulders, back, my bum, legs, feet, and my hands all the way to my palms. There was also a bit of Thai massage involved. She bent my legs and pulled them, stretched my legs in certain ways while I just lie there on my stomach. It was interesting.
Aside from the great massage I received, two things stood out to me with this experience. One was when the lady pulled my undie up so she could oil all of my upper legs. She did ask if she could pull it up but she asked while touching my pantie. I was caught off guard when she did that and it made me jump a little. Had she asked before touching, it would've been better. The other thing was she totally touched my face and my hands even though there's a sign in the room declaring staff won't touch customers' face & hands due to COVID precautions. She offered to massage my forehead even though I asked to not work on my face when I felt her hands moving toward my chin. I insisted on leaving my face out because my sensitive skin was having breakouts. Also, my sensitive nose lol. I also asked to not use any hot towel on my face. Altogether, she massaged my forehead for under a minute. It was like 30 seconds under my ears and then slowly moved up to the temples and then to my forehead just above my brows, but still, that's part of my face.

After my session was up, she wiped me down with hot towels and stepped out of the room so I could get dressed. On my way out, she gave me one tiny bottled water (I love these tiny ones, so cute) and a small bag of goodies. My body became sore that night, and I woke up to more soreness the next day. I even saw 3 darker spots on my left hand - I suspected they were bruises from the hot stones (?) because they were gone the next day. Two or three days later, the soreness was all gone and I felt great. 💃🎶
My 1-hour session was $70 and there was a fee for paying with credit cards. $3 for using a Visa and $5 for using American Express. No extra fees if paying with cash. I paid with a Visa. Overall, it was a great experience. I totally recommend this to people looking to getting a massage in Beaverton area!
