On Baby A's birthday, the c-section surgery went as planned. I walked into the OR around 9:30am and was pushed out around 2 hours later. W was instructed to wait outside while the team was getting me prepared for anesthesia. He then got invited to come in and sat next to me while the team worked on getting Baby A out of me 😂. W was a good DJ and Baby A was born while Taylor Swift's Shake It Off was being played. So...did I feel any pain during this life-changing surgery? No, I didn't. I had a spinal block. I never felt any type of pain during the surgery. Getting the anesthesia injected - however - was the most uncomfortable part of the surgery. There was a lot of pressure. I felt my back being pulled or pushed, or something. It just felt very uncomfortable, not painful, but very uncomfortable. It was also hard to try leaning toward the source of that uncomfortableness. Learning to relax while being uncomfortable was a very hard thing to do. But it was necessary. Once it...

Last weekend was great. Words cannot express how happy I was. I think I have been a hermit for way too long and forgot how much happiness little hangout could bring.
Mr. L and I attended Vikas's graduation last Friday. Technically, Vikas isn't a graduate yet because he graduates in the summer, but his family flew in and we all cheered for him on the university's convocation day like he really has done it! Well, I'm sure we'll have a grand finale in cheering again later this summer when he's done it done it :)
We also visited an old friend's house after going to the "sustainable festival" around noon last Saturday. The funny thing about that festival was neither one of us knew what the festival was about, we kind just went to it and later found out it was all about "go green!" Great! We thought there would be food, or at least that's what the ad on CityWeekly said but all we saw were booths selling green items and kids activities. We probably would have stayed there longer if there was food, hey I even hula looped for a bit!
Cafe Rio was the only thing that we agreed on that was probably the best option for lunch because, well our old friend did not want Mexican or Korean food, we didn't want American and I wasn't really in favor for Chinese food. Cafe Rio is Mexican but hey, it's more like a better subway with a Mexican lineage. I got the salad with no cheese, no beans, and no dressing. The girl that prepared my salad gave me a weird look because all I had in the bowl was just lettuce and rice, and a lime. Yeah I know that's not right, but hey, it's not like I wanted it that way - it's all because the meds. I have 10 weeks left was all I was thinking while waiting for the cashier to swipe my credit card.
Later, we stopped by at our place to pack some of my awesome spring rolls for our friend visiting from Korea so he and his friend/roommate could try some. Mr. L and him played X-Box while I was doing dishes in the kitchen - not too bad. Then, we went to his place and I met the cutest big dog - Zena!
Oh she's so friendly and so furry and so cute and so humble :)
We chatted (including Zena) from like 3 until 8:30 that evening and finally starvation was kicking in and that was when Mr. L and I went back home for some corn chowder.
The next day, woke up feeling refreshed, we went to Ace to get some light bulbs for the kitchen. Well, Ace didn't have the one we needed so we stopped by at Trader Joe's just to take a peek because their front door was crowded and there were music, people, FOOD, and just lots of laughter. Turns out - cinco de mayo! No wonder there was all that food and music. I had a lettuce wrap (which is what inspired me for making some this week) and gave all the kimchi to Mr. L. I had a piece of watermelon there too. Yummmy.![]() |
