On Baby A's birthday, the c-section surgery went as planned. I walked into the OR around 9:30am and was pushed out around 2 hours later. W was instructed to wait outside while the team was getting me prepared for anesthesia. He then got invited to come in and sat next to me while the team worked on getting Baby A out of me 😂. W was a good DJ and Baby A was born while Taylor Swift's Shake It Off was being played. So...did I feel any pain during this life-changing surgery? No, I didn't. I had a spinal block. I never felt any type of pain during the surgery. Getting the anesthesia injected - however - was the most uncomfortable part of the surgery. There was a lot of pressure. I felt my back being pulled or pushed, or something. It just felt very uncomfortable, not painful, but very uncomfortable. It was also hard to try leaning toward the source of that uncomfortableness. Learning to relax while being uncomfortable was a very hard thing to do. But it was necessary. Once it...

Tonight we had Korean fried chicken for dinner! It was so yummy that I decided to share about it right away 😎 It just happened we were driving by it in the parking lot (Beaverton Town Square). We were gonna go pick up a few things at Trader Joes, but didn't, and on our way out of the parking lot W shouted "ChimcKing!" Sitting in the car, I was just replying to a friend about our game night. W's enthusiasm almost made me jump up from the seat! So I raised my head from the screen and was like "huh?" then I saw the sign "soft opening" in front of us. Then, it hit me! It's the Korean chicken place we've been wanting to try! We first heard about this Korean fried chicken place a few months ago (like back in the summer?) when the country was getting tighter COVID-19 restrictions. We said to each other "hope it survives & we have to try it someday!" Well, today's the day we finally got to try it!
今晚我們吃了韓式炸雞當晚餐! 真的是超級好吃 好吃到我馬上來貼文了! 其實說起來滿巧的, 本來只是要去Trader Joe (超市)買些東西, 結果也沒去成, 從Beaverton Town Square的停車場出去的路上 W大叫了一聲"ChimcKing!" 當時在車子裡, 我正在回傳簡訊給朋友. W突然的興奮還嚇到我差點從椅子上跳起來! 從螢幕前抬起頭來 我還"huh?"很疑惑他到底看到甚麼 然後看到眼前的"soft opening"的大字報(soft opening意思就像是"半開幕" 通常是餐飲店家正式開幕前所辦的, 每個店家的soft opening都不一定, 有些可能是舉辦免費試吃活動來測試客人對口味的反應, 有些是開放給特別邀請的合作夥伴/好友試吃特別菜單, 可能免費可能不是免費, ChimcKing的soft opening是要付費的 且感覺是 因為疫情關係所以提供非完整菜單看看市場反應, 至少這是我的感覺)! 看到大字報後, 瞬間我反應過來. 阿! 是那家我們一直很想吃的韓式炸雞店! 我們第一次聽到有關這家店是幾個月前, 大概夏天吧, 那時美國各洲正在加強管制疫情. 當時我們就講好"希望店能存活下去 因為我們還要去吃啊!" 然後今天, 我們終於吃到他了!


We got the large order of "half & half" ($22.99) which included two flavors "soy garlic" and "hot king." Also got an order of fries. After paying it in the shop, the staff told us it'd be about 10 minutes. We waited outside and just enjoyed the chill winter night Beaverton got to offer. To be honest, it felt very nice! We also saw some guys having their chicken & beer outside, they looked like they were having a good time just like in K-drama 👏
我們點了大份的"半鹹半辣"($22.99)炸雞 "半鹹"是醬油大蒜口味. 還加點了一份薯條. 在店裡結帳後, 員工跟我們說大概要等10分鐘. 我們在店外面等 也享受Beaverton冬天晚上的涼爽感. 說真的, 很舒爽! 我們還看到一些客人在旁邊邊享受炸雞邊喝啤酒, 看起來很痛快, 就像韓劇裡那樣!

I think it came out a bit longer than 10 minutes, but oh my goodness, I could wait for 30 minutes or an hour for this!! The moment the staff handed us the bag, we knew it was gonna be great! It smelled so good I couldn't resist to take a quick peek at what's inside the bag and took the picture above when we were just minutes away from home lol
我覺得好像其實等超過10分鐘多, 不過 為了這炸雞 等30分或一小時我都願意! 當店員把袋子給我們的時候, 我們馬上知道這會很好吃! 那香味 好香啊! 連在車上差幾分鐘就到家了我都迫不急待地拆了袋子偷看裡面, 還照了上面那張照片!


The chicken not only smelled so good, these fried chicken also tasted so so so so delicious! Finishing them all in one setting was the only way to honor them. The fried chicken were very flavorful, VERY CRISPY, and just hit the spot right! The soy garlic were sweet and savory. The "hot king" was, well, hot! Wasn't super spicy but it did give a kick! The most popular way to pair Korean fried chicken is with beer but we went with coke instead. Oh! The chicken also came with pickled daikon, sweet and sour (yum!), which was a delightful surprise for us. When we were traveling in Korea, there was always a cup of pickled daikon in our fried chicken takeout (and delivery), so we really loved it this place also does it! Hmmmm, tonight's dinner was not bad, not bad, it was very good!
炸雞除了聞起來爆香, 真的吃下去時 也 超 好 吃! 一次吃光光才是唯一對炸雞的尊重! 每根炸雞都很美味, 非常脆! 醬油蒜香的炸雞其實還帶有甜味. 辣的也夠辣! 不是那種嗆辣的辣, 但吃完後嘴巴還是會有辣感! 跟韓式炸雞最常見的搭配通常是啤酒, 我們選跟可樂搭. 喔! 炸雞也包含了一小盒的醃白蘿蔔. 酸酸甜甜的 (好吃!) 是個很好的小驚喜. 我們在韓國旅行時, 每次外帶或叫外送炸雞時都有附至少一盒的醃白蘿蔔, 所以我們很高興在Oregon的這家炸雞店也這樣做! 今晚晚餐很不錯, 非常棒!
