Welcome, Baby A.

On Baby A's birthday, the c-section surgery went as planned. I walked into the OR around 9:30am and was pushed out around 2 hours later. W was instructed to wait outside while the team was getting me prepared for anesthesia. He then got invited to come in and sat next to me while the team worked on getting Baby A out of me 😂. W was a good DJ and Baby A was born while Taylor Swift's Shake It Off was being played. So...did I feel any pain during this life-changing surgery? No, I didn't. I had a spinal block. I never felt any type of pain during the surgery. Getting the anesthesia injected - however - was the most uncomfortable part of the surgery. There was a lot of pressure. I felt my back being pulled or pushed, or something. It just felt very uncomfortable, not painful, but very uncomfortable. It was also hard to try leaning toward the source of that uncomfortableness. Learning to relax while being uncomfortable was a very hard thing to do. But it was necessary. Once it...

End table makeover - Beibei & Lulu's new dining table

I've been wanting to spruce up the living room for a while. Most of our decor & furniture have a neutral tone, and it's been like it for several years. While there's nothing wrong with these neutral colors, I really want to just splash some colors. So, I painted our black end table and gave it a new color! It's a lovely shade of blue. I guess Tiffany blue is probably the closest tone I'd use to describe it.
The end table has been with us since 2016. While it's nothing high-end (if memory stands corrects, I think it's from WalMart), it's sentimental to us (at least to me 👩). It was one of the items W got for his rental townhouse when we lived in different states. This was actually used as a TV stand at the time. After we moved in together into our then-new home in Colorado, this became the dining table for Beibei and Lulu. Over the years, it survived feline 🐱🐈(and canine🐶) scratches and some water damage.

So last week, I picked up some paint from Home Depot. I got "Adonis" (blue) for "Beibei & Lulu's dining table" and "Honey Tea" (tan/yellow) for the coffee table in our living room (it's still black at the moment).
I used an old bedsheet as my "ground cover." 😂

The paint was really easy to work with. It also dried very quickly.
I got the "sample size" just for the table. I thought I would have some leftovers and maybe could use that for another small project. But, nope! I used up the whole jar! I painted 3 coats for the top shelf and 2 coats for the bottom shelf. The legs also got 2 coats.
The last time I painted anything was back when we painted our kitchen cabinets & kitchen walls in our first home. I found painting this table was much easier than painting cabinets & walls 😂 The hardest part in this "end table makeover" project lies among the corners & edges. I was too lazy to use a small brush to paint those edges & hard to reach spots, so my solution was to get extra amount of paint on the roller and rolled with it. The end result isn't perfect. But hey, I like it and it doesn't seem like Beibei & Lulu would care 😎
At some point, I debated whether I should've kept the legs and the sides black. Color block vs one color.
Well, I accidentally got some paint on one of the legs so that debate ended without much struggle.
I left it outside overnight to make sure it would dry out completely before I brought it indoors again. All together it took me 2 hours to finish all coats. I waited about 30 minutes between coats. It was a fun little project to do on a typical weekday afternoon!
