Welcome, Baby A.

On Baby A's birthday, the c-section surgery went as planned. I walked into the OR around 9:30am and was pushed out around 2 hours later. W was instructed to wait outside while the team was getting me prepared for anesthesia. He then got invited to come in and sat next to me while the team worked on getting Baby A out of me 😂. W was a good DJ and Baby A was born while Taylor Swift's Shake It Off was being played. So...did I feel any pain during this life-changing surgery? No, I didn't. I had a spinal block. I never felt any type of pain during the surgery. Getting the anesthesia injected - however - was the most uncomfortable part of the surgery. There was a lot of pressure. I felt my back being pulled or pushed, or something. It just felt very uncomfortable, not painful, but very uncomfortable. It was also hard to try leaning toward the source of that uncomfortableness. Learning to relax while being uncomfortable was a very hard thing to do. But it was necessary. Once it...

Game night is back

Game night's back! It's been morrrrrrre than a year since I last had a game night with people in-person! Due to COVID, we played board games and video games with friends online. Last weekend was the first time we actually played anything outside of our home in over a year! One of W's coworkers and his wife were gracious to host a game night at their beautiful home. It was a small group gathering and everyone had already been fully vaccinated. It was very nice to be able to have a social gathering in-person. We enjoyed the evening with a long round of Transforming Mars!

For the evening, we brought homemade cookies (white chocolate and macadamia) and nutella-filled croissants. Coincidentally, almost everyone brought dessert or salad. No one brought any main dish! Some people joked it's either all unhealthy or all healthy! 😂

One of the guests brought a box of famous Blue Star Donuts. Pardon my photography skills....but that donut was pretty tasty. It wasn't overly sweet, which I liked.
Although there was no main dish, I still got my plate full, twice that night! The salads were very refreshing!
The hosting couple has two lovely kitties. Queenie and Oscar. Oscar seemed more shy and Queenie showed up next to the guests more often than Oscar did. I enjoyed petting Queenie and I think she did too 😺

We played a couple of rounds of Set and then divided the group into two groups. One group played Wingspan and the other played Transforming Mars. W and I joined the Transforming Mars group and had a lot of fun playing it. This was only my second time playing this game (and I last played it in 2017) so I was (and still am) a newbie! W has played it before but online only so it was his first time playing it in-person. In the end, I tied with another beginner! Hehehehehe!
Before ending the night, the group tentatively agreed to do game nights regularly (with precautions, of course), like how it was planned last year before the pandemic happened. Two of the guests had mentioned wanting to do a "strategic game night" and we were intrigued so we reached out and are going to have our first strategic game night this weekend! They mentioned Dominion and we plan on bringing Agricola. So excited about game night being 👯
